Manifold Optimization for High-Accuracy Spatial Location Estimation Using Ultrasound Waves

This paper designs a high accuracy spatial location estimation method using ultrasound waves by exploiting the fixed geometry of transmitters. Assuming an equilateral triangle antenna configuration, where three antennas are placed as vertices triangle, problem can be formulated non-convex optimization whose interior is shown to admit Riemannian manifold structure. The investigation newly introduced manifold, i.e. all triangles in R^3, allows design highly efficient algorithms. Simulation results presented compare performance proposed approach against popular methods from literature. suggest that Riemannian-based outperform state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, require much smaller computation time compared with generic approaches.
